Short Fuse is Back In Hastings!
This is to let you know that Short Fuse is alive and well, and living in Hastings Old Town at The Jenny Lind.
Louise and Tara have been overcome with logistical problems and are unable to carry on with Short Fuse in Hastings, but the good news is that they have asked Shorelink Writers Group to run the Hastings Group, whilst they carry on with the Brighton Short Fuse. As many of you are aware, Shorelink has always believed that Short Fuse fulfils an important function in giving short story writers a platform for their work. Therefore, we are excited to be given this opportunity to take the event forward.
We have set up a special panel to read the stories as they come in. As you know, the standard of writing at Short Fuse is incredibly high, and we hope to achieve a balanced and entertaining programme.
So, calling all writers everywhere, send us your stories!

Short Fuse 1066
25th March 2012
Short Fuse 1066 welcomed the start of summer by asking everyone to send in their own favourite stories. The request produced a clutch of excellent stories, but not as many as we had hoped to receive. Were some of you too modest to put your self forward, we ask ourselves? Sadly, the event was sparsely attended again in spite of the quality of the stories. We at Shorelink find ourselves in something of a quandary. Both we, and many of our core members, would be desperately sorry to see Short Fuse 1066 disappear, but we cannot continue without more support. Like any event, it takes quite a lot of hard work, and if getting writers to send in their stories feels rather like pulling teeth, and then, having finally put together a really entertaining programme, we don’t get the audience, we have to ask whether it is worth continuing. So we are having one more attempt to rescue this unique evening. We have decided to reduce the selection panel to three people, thereby giving more Shorelinkers a chance to submit work (gosh - even King Harold might get a chance to read!) and have already reduced the entrance to £3.00. We don’t ask the chosen readers to pay, but a donation from them would not be spurned.
Our next date is 24th June, same time, same place (see the poster) and we are asking you to write a story incorporating the sentence: You can always tell when there’s trouble brewing.
Let’s hope this is not the end of the affair.
